My name is Caroline Guntur (formerly Nilsson), and I am a Swedish Professional Organizer and Genealogist, or as I'd like to refer to it, an Organized Genealogist. What do the two have in common, you ask? Well, photos, documents, and digital files.
My business The Swedish Organizer, LLC represents who I am as well as what I do. I offer digital organizing services for all your photos, documents, and digital files, as well as remote coaching.
I blog over at http://www.organizingphotos.net, and I currently offer on-demand educational courses and webinars within the fields of family history and photo organizing. My signature course DPO PRO is available at http://www.dpopro.co
I offer Scandinavian genealogy services, mainly Swedish research, for those clients who would like to dive further into their family history and learn more about the background and context of all those photos, documents, and old letters. If you don't know your heritage, do you really know who you are? If you want to explore, and connect with your roots, I can help you achieve that goal.
I offer personal history services for those clients who would like to go a step further with their family history, and combine the best , documents, and stories into a photo book, autobiography, video, slideshow, or other creative project. Great for family reunions, or as birthday gifts!
I offer communications services, for those clients who would like to have their old letters or heirlooms translated into English, or for those clients who would like to do a personal history project in more than one language. Agencies or businesses branching into Scandinavia are also welcome. Languages are: Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, and English in any combination.
My background and professional credentials:
I was born and raised in Ystad, Sweden, but moved to the United States in 1999. I currently live in Alqonquin, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, with my husband and daughter, but I split my time to spend as much time in Sweden as possible.
My education includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual Communication from Hawaii Pacific University, a Master of Arts Degree in Arts, Entertainment & Media Management from Columbia College, as well as a certificate of Advanced English / English as a Second Language from Cambridge University.
I am a Certified Photo Organizer, a Certified Home Movie Specialist, and I am currently pursuing my CPO, CG, and CGL certifications.
In the Unites States, I am a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) and its Chicago chapter, and I currently serve as their Director of Technology & Communications. I'm also a member of the Association of Personal Photo Organizers (APPO), the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), and the International Society of Genetic Genealogy (ISOGG).
In Sweden, I am a member of Ystadbygdens Släkt- och Bygdeforskarförening, Ystad Fornminnesförening, Österlens Släkt- och Folklivsforskarförening, and DIS - Datorhjälp i släktforskningen (Swedish Computer Genealogy Society).
I am a native speaker of Swedish, fluent in Norwegian and Danish, and conversational in Spanish, French, German, and Italian.
I hope you will drop me a line to say Hej, or perhaps connect with me on social media! I look forward to helping you organize, preserve, and connect with your family history!
