Isabelle started creating “visual biographies” —sequences of still images that tell stories about people, when she took on the task of sorting out 30 years of her own family photos.
Isabelle enjoys teaching the skills and techniques that she has discovered to help busy families who want to enjoy their digital photos and videos, not store them away in a box or a hard drive to be forgotten.
A native of France, Isabelle Dervaux has twenty-five years experience in the magazine publishing and advertising world as an artist and illustrator. She’s worked for Vogue, The New Yorker, Barneys, and for top clients from Paris to Tokyo. She has also taught Illustration and visual storytelling at the CCA in San Francisco and at the Parsons in New York.
Isabelle will work with you at your home and your own pace to organize your digital and print photos in a way that is comfortable for you. She can also set up an easy to use photo filing system for your future needs.
With the trained eye of a photo-editor, Isabelle will patiently curate your collections to choose your strongest and most important images. She will show you how to recognize a great photo which in turn will improve your photo taking skills and develop your unique visual style.
In addition to a slideshow or a Quicktime movie that you can view on your computer or TV, Isabelle can also transfer them to your iPhone or iPad to show friends on the go. She can design an email to send to family and friends for special occasions, arrange to print a photo-album for your coffee table, and upload your albums to a private online site or social media to share your photo albums easily with friends and family.
Finally she will make sure that you have a fool-proof backup system.
Depending on your time and budget, she can take care of your entire project, do it alongside you, or get you started with the tools you’ll need to continue on your own.
She can also help you with creativity, visual thinking, storytelling, and design workshops.
