Intensives

Our Pre-Conference Intensive returns for a 4th year and has become the cornerstone for those seeking extended, in-depth training. Attendees customize their experience by choosing three preferred sessions to complete their two-day training. Each module gives participants the chance to take a deep dive with expert facilitators while exploring topics in an intimate, small group setting. Learning modules are four hours long with a 20-minute break, and facilitators will present experiential content while utilizing group and individual hands-on work and group discussion.

Before starting registration, review the following modules to determine your preference for each session. Learn more about each topic by selecting the Module link.

*Intensive modules are available on a first come basis and you will be choosing one from each session during the registration process.

An installment plan of $433 per month for 3 months is available until December 17th, 2015.


Your registration fee of $1299 includes your Conference registration:

Session 1: Wednesday morning

Module 1: Bold Business Moves: Moving Your Business in the Right Direction - Part 1
Trainer: Lisa Montanaro

To have a thriving and successful business, you need to be strategic. You dont have to do everything. You have to do the RIGHT things for YOUR business! Stop chasing "bright shiny objects! A tactic thats perfect for one business owner might be the wrong move for you. Do what will work for you, based on your value proposition and your target market. Leverage your strengths and dont waste time with ideas that simply dont fit your business model.

Using Lisas "6 Pillars of Powerhouse Success, you will do a deep-dive assessment of your business from top to bottom. Lisa will provide the know-how, while also forcing you to take a cold, hard look at your business, dissect it, and put it back together strategically so that it is better and stronger!

  • Make powerful mindset shifts

This Intensive is a 2 part session and is not suitable for individuals who are starting a business. Please choose Module 3 for your afternoon session.

 

Module 2: When Your Clients Feel Like VIPs, They Rave About You!
Trainers: Jenny Larson and Darla DeMorrow

Do you find yourself completing work with one client and then waiting for the phone to ring? Are you looking to develop a pipeline of raving fans who tell everyone they know about your photo organizing services? Are you leaving revenue opportunities on the table with your existing clients?

Jenny and Darla have a combined total of 25 years of experience in the photo and professional organizing professions. They built businesses largely from referrals without relying on advertising or marketing. In this Intensive, Jenny and Darla will help you think about ways to improve your current systems and share the time-tested techniques that keep them in demand with their clients.

Module 4: Insider Tips with APPO's Authorized Trainers: Pricing and Profitability
Trainers: Sherra Humphreys and Rita Norton


Is it stressful when someone asks you for an estimate for photo organizing? Do you factor in all the hidden costs of doing business? Do you wish you had a formula to figure out your pricing?

Sherra and Rita will teach you how to create a system to track tasks, identify your hidden costs and develop a base-pricing system for different services. If you feel like you are currently running a non-profit venture, you can gain confidence in your pricing and know you can run a profitable business. You can meet your financial goals so you can also give back to your
community. You will have a whole new pricing message to share with prospects and clients when you get back home!

Learning Objectives:

  • Examine the correlation between confidence and pricing and understand your expertise and the value of "you”
  • Learn to track your jobs by task, factor in hidden costs and create a base-pricing system for services
  • Understand how changing your pricing mindset will guide you to business success

Session 3: Thursday morning

Module 5: High-Touch Best Practices in a High-Tech World
Trainer: Jane Pollak


This is an experiential intensive that includes a dozen non-digital methods for growing a company that supports your lifestyle. Business owners are inundated with high-tech from every angle. This workshop is for those who also want to master the high-touch aspects of running a company.

We are in a constant state of transformation and reinvention. It’s easy to become overwhelmed, plagued by self-doubt and held back by the fear of taking that first step. Illustrated with Jane’s memorable anecdotes and grounded in the art of visualization and goal-setting, this workshop will provide participants with know-how and confidence.

Learning Objectives:

  • Create your own future by defining goals and crafting an action plan for meaningful results in a supportive environment
  • Visualize your future self and learn how to harness this powerful ally
  • Put goal-setting into practice by experiencing the power of the mastermind group. Learn what tools give a group its staying power and what keeps members coming back

Module 6: Protecting Your Photo and Business Assets in Today's Online Photo-Sharing Mania!
Trainers: Mary Moseley and Jackie Lyals


Are you certain you’ve protected your assets in your client contract? Are you sure those online agreements for cloud storage and photo sharing sites protect your clients’ digital photos? Do you find it a challenge to compare photo organizing, backup and photo sharing solutions for you and your client? Do you understand the in’s and out’s of digital photo organization, backup and how to protect your metadata?

During this intensive Mary will present subject matter prepared by an attorney (who happens to be her husband), that will delve into the ‘must haves’ for any client agreement in order to help you avoid liability nightmares. They will explore various online terms of use common to photo sharing sites to help you protect your clients' precious photos and videos. Mary and Jackie will take you on a deep dive into best practices for digital photo management, important key features that you should look for when recommending photo organizing software and how the software treats metadata, backup devices and online services for your clients.

  • Learn universal language that you can add to your client agreements to protect you from potential liability
  • Learn how to spot potential "risk" in online terms of use with photo sharing sites
  • Examine metadata standards and learn how to compare various online and software organizing programs for adherence
  • Identify key features that are important to any photo organizing solution
  • Understand how to select and set up a healthy backup system for any client
