A native of France, Isabelle Dervaux has twenty-five years experience as an artist and illustrator in the magazine publishing and advertising world. She’s worked for Vogue, The New Yorker, Barneys, and for top clients around the world. She has had shows of her work in Paris, New York and Tokyo and has also taught Illustration and visual storytelling at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco and Parsons in New York.
Isabelle started creating “visual biographies” —still image sequences that tell stories of people and families, when she took on the task of sorting out 30 years of her own family photos. Visual biographies contain collages, illustrations and ephemera that complement the stories the photos tell.
Isabelle now teaches the skills and techniques she has discovered to help busy families enjoy their photos and videos instead of storing them in a box or a hard drive to be forgotten.

“Culled from thousands of snapshots in shoeboxes, photo albums, various computers, and behind dusty old frames is a masterpiece of a picture show-- brilliantly edited, art directed and photographed by Isabelle Dervaux. She focused in on the fishing and boating loves of my son Sam, now 21 years old. She artfully selected the best photos of Sam from birth onwards and rounded out the show by taking shots of his childhood artwork, the family boat and various nautical props around our home. It's a picture show worth showing and sharing, again and again.” --Jessie Hartland, Author and Illustrator, New York City
‘Isabelle Dervaux did a wonderful video for us! She took photos from the past 16 years of our children growing up, organized them, added interesting scanned memorabilia, a timeline and made a video that we and our children will cherish forever. I have been attempting to do something similar for my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary and have gotten bogged down with just the organization of the photos. Having Isabelle do all the organization, layout and final presentation for our children’s video was so much easier and better than doing it myself!’ --Jill Kent, Court Reporter, San Francisco
“I never could have organized the transfer of my 8mm films and a dozen VHS family videos (and found such a good digitizing service) without you” --Carl Friedberg, Physicist, New York City
“You are so good. Thank you so much. Great service. Great explanation, great teaching. Just what I needed: someone to simply explain what Apple assumes people already know.” --Jane Westfall, Digital Project Management Consultant, San Francisco
